Events Neuro-inclusive design with Mei-Yee Man Oram

Media Parters

Everyone’s brain works differently and we experience the world in diverse ways. However, it is estimated that 1 in 7 people around the world are neurodivergent, which means they have atypical neurological conditions such as autism, dyslexia and ADHD.

For them, the environment they are in can limit their participation in a community and stop them from reaching their full potential. Lack of appropriate infrastructure can lead to exclusion of neurodivergent people.

Mei-Yee Man Oram, who leads the Access and Inclusive Environments team at Arup in London, will share design ideas, principles and experiences of designing with the needs of neurodivergent users in mind. Mei will cover:

  • What a truly inclusive design means.
  • Emerging trends that impact inclusive design.
  • Applying inclusive design: Apple retail portfolio, Sky Studios and Arup 80 Charlotte Street case studies.

Mei’s presentation will be followed by a Q&A session and time for networking.
