Airport City Gdańsk is a modern complex located next to the Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport. The PIG Architekci architectural office is responsible for the concept and design documentation of the project. The first stage of the complex is a 6-storey office building named Alpha, with a carefully designed two-level underground car park. On an area of approximately 6,000 m2, Deckshield resin flooring by Flowcrete, a leading expert in this area, was applied.

Airport City Gdańsk will combine high-quality offices with the hotel and commercial and service functions. One of its benefits is an excellent location, next to the airport, with easy access to the Tricity ring road and close to the nearby entry onto the A1 motorway and the Pomeranian Metropolitan Railway Station, in the vicinity of the public transport and bicycle routes. The first stage is the Alpha office building, which is to be put into use shortly. In the second stage, in 2022, the building named Bravo will be erected. More facilities will be developed as part of ACG in the future. Their names will also refer to the aviation alphabet. The implementation of the project will proceed following the sustainable development principles and LEED certification requirements.

The first stage of the investment, the Alpha building, offers 8,500 m2 of rentable space. It has six storeys above-ground and two storeys underground, which comprise a colourful and visually attractive car park, designed in detail – the showcase of the facility. It offers over 218 parking spaces, including places for people with disabilities, car sharing, electric car charging stations, and numerous amenities for cyclists, like stands, changing rooms and showers.

In the Alpha garage, Deckshield parking floors by Flowcrete were applied at an area of approximately 6,000 m2. These flooring systems are based on solvent-free polyurethane resins and quartz sand. They are mechanically resistant, including abrasion resistance, and chemically resistant to substances contained in fuels, vehicle operating fluids and de-icing salts. These coatings features include high flexibility and the crack-bridging ability, which makes the concrete substrate effectively protected against external factors.

Deckshield flooring systems also enhance the functionality of the car park. The addition of quartz sand gives them anti-slip properties. The selection of colours allows for the clear marking of traffic routes and parking spaces, which positively affects the safety of all car park users. Deckshield floors are also environmentally friendly – as a material with low content and low emission of volatile organic compounds, proven in research.

“The car park at Airport City Gdańsk is an attractive, user-friendly space that makes a good impression at the first contact with the building. Resin floors play an important role in these interiors in terms of functionality and appearance. Their light shades and a glossy surface optically enlarge and illuminate the car park space. Carefully selected, vivid colours of these coatings and the ease of cleaning have a positive effect on the aesthetics of the garage, which is also important in the long-term use of the facility, ” – said Michał Dargacz, Director of Airport City, the Gdańsk Lech Wałęsa Airport.

In the garage in the Alpha building, the communication roads are in light grey, the parking spaces are grey, and the horizontal markings, including lines and symbols, are dark grey. Special zones, such as places for people with disabilities, electric vehicles and their charging stations, car sharing are marked with resin floors in attractive shades of blue, green and yellow.
In addition to Deckshield parking floors, approximately 500 m2 of Flowcrete’s Flowcoat SF41 epoxy flooring was applied in the technical rooms.

All resin floors in the Alpha building, the first stage of Airport City Gdańsk, were applied by Grupa Konar Sp. z o.o., Flowcrete Authorized Contractor.
