Prospects for the further development of the strong Polish-UK relationship and current regulatory issues were the subjects of a meeting of the BPCC public affairs group with finance minister, Andrzej Domański, deputy minister Jarosław Neneman, and representatives from the ministry’s departments of public expenditure efficiency and accounting and international cooperation. The meeting took place in Warsaw on 19 July 2024.
The government’s priority of energy transition in Poland, including the development of nuclear power, creates scope for strengthening mutual relations and UK investment engagement. The digitalisation of the economy is a key factor in Poland’s energy transition; the EU’s National Recovery Plan funds can be an important source of support for foreign investment, the BPCC heard.
The ministers stressed the importance of dialogue with different groups, including business. While the role of the ministry is to take decisions that are not always welcomed, it is important that they are taken in consultation and as openly as possible, they said.
On behalf of the BPCC, Michał Obiegała, chairman of the board, expressed gratitude for the chance to have another discussion (the first one was held with minister Domański during the election campaign). The representatives of the ministry then addressed issues raised by members of the BPCC’s public affairs group, which are currently of concern to their business.
The meeting provided an opportunity for open and substantive discussion. The BPCC very much appreciates the willingness of the Ministry of Finance to engage in dialogue with the business community and looks forward to continued cooperation.
