WHO WE ARE:

The British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC) is a non-governmental organisation dedicated to increasing two-way trade and investment between Poland and the UK. It serves to further the business interests of our members across both countries. In Poland, a key part of our work is to engage with and represent our members in dialogue with the national authorities, with the goal of improving the business environment through the better functioning of its institutions, thereby making Poland a more competitive location for businesses.

The BPCC is looking to recruit a full-time Regulatory Affairs Manager, based in Warsaw. The successful candidate would work closely with government ministries, regulatory authorities and parliamentary groups to understand and interpret regulatory requirements as they affect British corporate investors present in the Polish market, and to develop and implement strategies for ensuring that Poland’s business environment is globally competitive.

Specific duties of a Regulatory Affairs Manager include:

  • Monitoring and analysing legislative and regulatory developments in Poland
  • Coordinating the preparation and submission of consultative documents to government on behalf of BPCC members
  • Writing/presenting pieces for the BPCC’s and external media channels about forthcoming legislative changes and the business environment in Poland
  • Representing the BPCC in meetings with regulatory authorities and other international chambers of commerce in Poland, and negotiating with these parties on regulatory matters on behalf of BPCC members
  • Providing guidance and support to BPCC members on regulatory issues in Poland

The Regulatory Affairs Manager should have a strong understanding of the regulatory and legislative environment in Poland and the EU, as well as excellent communication and negotiation skills. A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as law, business, or public policy is required for this position, and experience working in a regulatory affairs or compliance role, particularly in the international arena would be preferred. Fluency in English and Polish is required. Having a broad network of contacts within government, parliament and regulatory bodies would be a decisive advantage.

A hybrid remote-work/office-based environment is offered, as well as a competitive remuneration package.

YOUR ROLE

This is a unique post to manage all regulatory aspects of the chamber’s work ensuring they fulfil our members’ expectations. Reporting to the chamber’s CEO and working closely with the board of directors this post reflects the importance of substantive interaction between our members, business environment and the public-sector stakeholders (key Polish ministries, regulatory bodies, government agencies). The scope of work is diverse – from the assessment of legislation to writing proposal statements and following up to ensure results.

This is a key position in the organisation, allowing for professional development within the highly rewarding B2G (business to government) environment. It involves working with business leaders, government officials and industry experts.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Degree-educated (essential), ideally in a business or international affairs subject, or related degree
  • High level of spoken and written English, Polish as native language
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a close-knit team (essential)
  • Experience of planning and organising meetings, drafting agendas and minutes in Polish and in English (useful to have)
  • Self-starter with the ability to focus on a given task; high work-rate (essential)
  • Self-confidence, willingness to learn, and ability to absorb knowledge quickly
