NB Polska Sp. z o.o., part of the VELUX Group – a world leader in the manufacturing of roof windows, has expanded its production plant at ulica Słoneczna in Gniezno. A modern entrance pavilion designed by architects from the Poznań studio PL+ Sp. z o.o. (team of authors: Paweł Litwinowicz, Zuzanna Król-Ratajczak, Aleksandra Woźniak, Justyna Stankiewicz) was built there. Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane DOMBUD Sp. z o.o. based in Nowy Tomyśl developed the facility as a General Contractor in close cooperation with InPro Sp. z o.o. from Poznań. This is an example of modern industrial architecture – it uses numerous innovative solutions and high-quality construction materials and technologies, including impressive and durable Mondéco Classic resin terrazzo floors by Flowcrete, applied by BR7 Sp. z o.o.
The entrance pavilion of the NB Polska Sp. z o. o. production plant in Gniezno has been nominated for the Architectural Award of the Wielkopolska Region (NAWW), a competition announced by the Association of Polish Architects (Stowarzyszenie Architektów Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej, SARP), Poznań branch, in the category of “Public Utility Building”. On the ground floor, there is a reception, and in the attic, there is a showroom of roof windows, the metal elements of which are manufactured in a local factory, and a meeting room.
The building features many original solutions referring to industrial aesthetics, including a roof created by three gable roofs. VELUX roof windows illuminating the interiors were installed on its slopes. In addition, an environmentally friendly green roof technology covered with vegetation was used. The elevations were finished with red bricks, creating a modern, geometric layout, with heads protruding from the wall face. The entrance to the building was marked with an arcade and a glass wall.
The pavilion’s interior has been decorated in a simple, elegant style. An important element of the spacious lobby and attic arrangement is the seamless resin terrazzo flooring – Mondéco Classic by Flowcrete, made on a total area of approx. 130 sqm.
The durable and resistant Mondéco Classic flooring system uses coloured epoxy resin and marble aggregate. It is applied directly to the concrete substrate. After bonding, as a result of repeated grinding and polishing, it gains a smooth, shiny surface that beautifully reflects light. Thanks to the possibility of creating diverse colour effects, this material provides a wide range of free design possibilities.
The Mondéco Classic floor in the “white chalk and coal” colour used in the entrance pavilion of the NB Polska Sp. z o.o. production plant in Gniezno is a combination of a white resin matrix with a carefully selected mixture of natural marble stones in white and black. This solution resembles classic terrazzo in appearance and at the same time higher parameters, including mechanical resistance.
The Mondéco Classic flooring, made on the ground floor and attic level, was combined with stairs finished with light grey micro cement.
The company responsible for the application of resin floors and finishing of stairs in this facility was BR7 Sp. z o.o. from Granowo, Flowcrete Authorized Contractor – a company run by Daniel Przewoźny, for 12 years performing the most demanding tasks in the field of resin flooring and micro cement in public utility buildings.
