The Annopol tram depot, the fifth in the capital, was built in the Białołęka district, at ul.  Warszawskich Tramwajarzy 5. Designed by PAS Projekt, Czyż Mariusz Siblej, PIG Architekci, Prota Polska, and Systra, the facility was constructed by a consortium of ZUE and Yörük Yapı İnşaat. The investment, with a contract value of PLN 716 million, was co-financed by EU funds as part of the development of Warsaw’s rail transport network. Flowcrete resin flooring was applied in the largest and most modern tram depot in Poland, covering an area of over 20,000 m2, with technical advice provided by experts from Tremco CPG.

The Annopol depot is the first tram depot built in Warsaw since the Żoliborz depot was opened in 1963. This project was co-financed by the Cohesion Fund through the Infrastructure and Environment Programme (2014–2020) and the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment Programme (2021–2027). The construction of the facility was necessary due to the launch of new routes, including the one to Wilanów. Without this depot, Warsaw Trams would not be able to handle the increased number of transport tasks.

The new 12-hectare depot in Annopol comprises a complex of 14 buildings serving as technical, technological and administrative facilities. As part of the investment, 55 tram tracks, totalling 16 km in length, were built, along with 100 switches. The depot itself can accommodate 152 carriages, each measuring almost 33 metres in length.

This largest and most modern tram depot in Poland was awarded in the 11th edition of the Architectural Award of the Mayor of Warsaw in the ‘Commercial Architecture’ category. It features many technologically advanced solutions, including an intelligent management system that identifies each tram entering and leaving the depot and allows it to be directed to service or parking stations, while the control of points and signals is automatic, without the involvement of tram drivers.

In the new investment by Tramwaje Warszawskie, resin flooring from the leading brand Flowcrete was applied, made from materials and using technology manufactured and supplied by Tremco CPG Poland. The flooring covers a total area of over 20,000 m².

In the large halls of the Annopol Depot, where trams are serviced and repaired, resin coatings were applied to the concrete to protect it from dust and withstand medium levels of foot traffic. When selecting the flooring system, chemical resistance to substances used in vehicle maintenance and a non-slip surface were important criteria. It was also important that the flooring could be easily cleaned, refreshed or repaired in the event of mechanical damage during operation.

These requirements were met by using Flowcoat SF41 anti-slip coating in the Repair Hall and Daily Service Hall, as well as in the inspection channels, washing facilities, and tram interior cleaning stations.

This thin-layer flooring system is made of coloured epoxy resin and quartz sand aggregate. With a total thickness of approximately 2 mm, it is designed for use in production rooms, warehouses and workshops with heavy foot traffic. The application technology allows the degree of slip resistance to be adjusted according to usage requirements. This seamless, easy-to-clean, economical solution requires minimal surface preparation for any repairs.

Some rooms at the Annopol Depot, such as areas where flammable substances are spilled and areas at risk of explosion, required specialised antistatic flooring for ATEX zones. In addition, due to the intensive conditions of use in repair workshops, the flooring required high mechanical and chemical resistance, as well as a rough, non-slip surface.

The above requirements were set out for the Paint Hall, which comprises two independent booths (one for preparation and one for painting and drying), a storage room for paint and varnish, server rooms, and rooms for carpentry and upholstery. The investor accepted the proposal of the Tremco CPG experts for the specialised Flowfresh ESD SR system. This flooring solution is based on polyurethane resins and carefully selected aggregates, cements and fillers. It meets the requirements of EN IEC 61340-4-1 and EN IEC 61340-4-5 standards for dissipating charges from the floor surface to the ground. Thanks to its high abrasion resistance, this coating is also suitable for areas exposed to heavy mechanical loads.

Both Flowcrete resin flooring systems at the Annopol Depot were produced in light grey, in accordance with the investor’s specific request. The glossy finish of the coatings reflects light, brightening and visually enlarging the industrial interiors while perfectly complementing their carefully designed aesthetics.

Flowcrete resin flooring in the Annopol tram depot in was installed by Floor System Posadzki przemysłowe z żywic, based in Michałówek, a Flowcrete Authorised Contractor.
