Today’s discussion focused on exporting to the United Kingdom – the opportunities, challenges, and the new UK-EU framework agreement. The meeting was opened by Karolina Pokorska from Coventry University, the host of the event, who presented a support programme for Polish enterprises in the areas of digitalisation and cybersecurity. Marcin Cichy, Managing Director of the BPCC, outlined key aspects of economic cooperation between Poland and the UK, highlighting, among others, a 35% increase in mutual trade over the past five years and a record level of Polish investment in the British market.

Next, Wojciech Bijan from Global24 discussed practical issues related to e-commerce logistics to the UK. He covered export requirements such as the need for an EORI number, the correct customs tariff code, and determining the country of origin. He also explained the differences between DDU and DDP shipping terms, the importance of local return addresses, and the specific requirements imposed by UK marketplace platforms.

The following presentation by Tomasz Połeć, CEO of Taxology, focused on VAT registration and settlements in the UK. He addressed matters such as product valuation, differences between marketplace and direct online sales, as well as detailed aspects of VAT registration and reporting obligations in the UK.

After the coffee break, Tomasz Szarek, Managing Partner at SDZLEGAL Schindhelm, supported remotely from London by Stuart Scott-Goldstone – Partner and Head of Corporate & Commercial at Aaron & Partners LLP – provided insights into setting up companies and branches in the UK. The session covered the reasons for entering the British market, available legal forms for conducting business, the registration process, as well as practical challenges and best practices for establishing a business presence in the UK.
