On Wednesday, 23 April 2025, the stylish setting of the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel in Szczecin played host to Espresso HR – Let’s Talk About Employment Law, an event organised by the British Polish Chamber of Commerce, the Szczecin Metropolitan Development Agency (ARMS), and TLA Law Firm.
The event, designed as a platform for substantive discussion on the legal challenges facing employers and employees in the digital age, drew a broad audience of HR professionals, legal experts, managers, and business representatives from across the West Pomeranian province.
Following a welcome from Renata Polikowska, managing director of ARMS, Ilona Chodorowska, regional director of the BPCC, and Szczepan Stawarski, product development director at TLA Law Firm, the day began with a session focusing on employees’ online presence. Leading legal specialists from TLA – Izabela Mendyk-Pichur, partner, and Karolina Obuchowicz, legal counsel – explored the fine line between employer oversight and employee privacy on social media, the protection of personal rights, and the legal implications of inaction in response to potentially damaging online behaviour.
After a networking coffee break that provided ample opportunity for exchanging insights and experiences, the second part of the event turned to workplace monitoring. The speakers offered a detailed analysis of the permissible forms of surveillance and their lawful application in safeguarding employer interests – from CCTV systems and email monitoring to the recording of conversations.
Our sincere thanks go to all who participated so actively in this engaging gathering. We invite you to join us at future editions of Espresso HR – because employment law is worth discussing regularly, especially over a good cup of coffee and in expert company.
