Piotr Ciołkowski has joined Dentons’ Warsaw office as a partner and Co-head of the Energy sector group in Poland as of November 1, 2024. In his new role, he will lead the team alongside fellow co-head, Christian Schnell. In addition, counsel Maciej Ziółkowski joined the Energy team earlier in October.
Piotr Ciołkowski has 20 years’ experience in assisting energy sector clients with their expansion and operations in the Polish market. He advises on regulatory and investment issues, negotiates electricity and fuel sales contracts, and supports clients in merger and acquisition transactions. He is highly recommended in major legal directories, including Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000. Prior to joining Dentons, he led the Warsaw regulatory team within the energy practice at an international law firm.
“Dentons has a longstanding reputation as a leading law firm in the energy sector in Poland and Central Europe. The Firm’s collaborative approach provides the opportunity to work closely with top-tier professionals from a range of practice areas to address clients’ business needs. I am confident that, by leveraging our collective strengths, we will be the legal counsel of choice for clients in the sector,” said Piotr Ciołkowski.
Maciej Ziółkowski specializes in investment processes, particularly in renewable energy sources, but also oil and gas projects. He advised on numerous transactions in the Polish renewable energy market, including the acquisition and financing of onshore wind farms and solar projects.
“The energy transition is one of Dentons’ priorities for growth and investment in Poland and across Europe. The addition of Piotr and Maciej to our team supports this strategy. Their experience will enhance our capabilities in advising on complex, multidisciplinary infrastructure projects in collaboration with other practices, such as M&A, banking and finance, public procurement and environmental protection,” add Anna Pukszto and Bartłomiej Kordeczka, Poland Managing Partners.
“The pursuit of climate neutrality will play a pivotal role in the global economy in the coming decades. Its challenges will determine the actions of governments and businesses across all industry sectors, including energy producers and offtakers. The demand for comprehensive legal support will reflect this trend, and by strengthening our Firm with two seasoned energy lawyers, we will be able to respond even more effectively to our clients’ needs,” said Christian Schnell, Partner and Co-head of the Energy group in Poland and Europe.
