At the beginning of September 2024, Emtech from central Poland, a firm specialising in the production of low-bed trailers, finalised the purchase of Andover Trailers, a British manufacturer of specialised trailers with over 100 years of history. Emtech is a Polish company that works with domestic and international partners from sectors such as construction, heavy industry, agriculture, military, and logistics involving large-sized loads.
“The history of Emtech is proof that Great Britain is today a springboard for Polish business to international success. Just as Emtech took over a renowned British brand with long traditions and a portfolio of clients, more and more investment opportunities are emerging in other industries,” says Piotr Kubalka, CEO of J.Dauman Group, who oversaw the deal. “Among Polish companies, the number of such acquisitions made in Great Britain in the first nine months of 2024 is already twice as high as it was in the whole of 2023,” he said.
Adam Duda, CEO of Emtech sp. z o.o. and Andover Trailers Ltd, said: “We want to build our future on international markets, hence the decision to buy the British company. It’s a company with an excellent international reputation. Knowledge of the British market and the trust we have built since 2008 with the owners of Andover Trailers have allowed us to thoroughly understand the specifics of their business and the needs of our customers. Thanks to this, we will be able to significantly expand our product range and increase our share in the UK market. This is an important step in the development of our company,” says Emtech stands out for the implementation of special projects, such as the production of a mobile LNG station, specialist trailers for fire services, a mobile Covid-19 laboratory or an eight-axle semi-trailer for transporting trams. Each of these products reflects the company’s commitment to innovation and adaptation to the specific needs of customers in various sectors.
Over the years, the Andover Trailers brand has become synonymous with quality, as evidenced by constant projects for the supply of specialist solutions to armed forces from around the world. Andover Trailers also has a wide range of products, including trailers and semi-trailers for transporting heavy construction equipment, forklifts, boats and yachts, and oversized loads.
“We have acquired 95% of the shares of the British company, which gives us full control over all of Andover Trailers’ assets, such as the trademark, intellectual property, and know-how. The transaction will enable us to integrate the best practices developed on both sides of the English Channel,” says Mr Duda. “In line with our assumptions, in the future we will simultaneously develop both the Emtech and Andover Trailers brands, as well as production plants in Poland and Britain. We believe that by integrating individual areas, we will expand the product portfolio of both brands and strengthen our competitive position on the European and global markets. The recognition of the Andover Trailers brand, domestically and abroad, provides a solid foundation for further development. We appreciate the knowledge and experience of the Andover Trailers team, which will be key to our joint success and expansion.”
