Warsaw’s new business district, developing at Rondo Daszyńskiego, is home to some of the tallest and most modern buildings in Poland. These skyscrapers serve as offices, service and residential buildings. They are designed and built according to the principles of green construction, using numerous innovations and high-quality building materials. In total, over 300,000 m2 of Deckshield resin floors from Flowcrete, a leading expert in this technology, have already been applied to the car parks of buildings located in this part of the capital.
Deckshield floors have been installed so far in the high-rise buildings located at Rondo Daszyńskiego, including Warsaw Spire, The Warsaw HUB, Warsaw Unit, and Generation Park. After expanding this zone to approximately 1 km, taking into account parking lots in the Vibe project, in buildings D and E in the LIXA office complex, in the development quarter created by Browary Warszawskie and in the 19. Dzielnica housing estate, the surface of Deckshield floors used in the new business centre of the capital has already exceeded 300,000 m2.
Deckshield is a high-quality car park flooring made of flexible polyurethane resins and quartz sand. Its basic function is to protect the concrete substrate and structural elements of the building from the destructive impact of external factors. They have high mechanical and chemical resistance to typical substances found in parking lots. They are adapted to the difficult conditions on access and exit ramps, bottom slabs, and intermediate floor ceilings, in terms of anti-slip and abrasion resistance. In addition, these coatings have very good properties for bridging standard cracks in the concrete substrate. This type of cracking, foreseen in the designs, may occur in high-rise buildings due to possible movements of the structure.
Deckshield flooring systems are used in green buildings due to their low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), confirmed by the Indoor Air Comfort® Gold certificate, which translates into the air quality in buildings and the health of their users.
Selected buildings forming the new business district of the capital with Deckshield floors:
Warsaw Spire (designed by M. & J-M. Jaspers – J. Eyers & Partners, Polish-Belgian Architecture Studio PROJEKT, developer Ghelamco) is an office complex consisting of a 220-meter skyscraper and two 55-meter buildings and Plac Europejski, under which a five-story underground car park for over 1,200 vehicles was built. Deckshield floors were installed on all levels of the car park, as well as on staircases and in technical rooms on an area of 73,000 m2. The Warsaw Spire complex received the BREEAM Excellent environmental certificate.
The Warsaw HUB (designed by AMC – Andrzej M. Chołdzyński, developer Ghelamco) is a complex of three towers, which constitute a business-hotel-service-commercial hub. Deckshield flooring was installed on the six-level underground car park, which offers over 1,000 parking spaces, in an area exceeding 30,000 m2. The same flooring system was also used on an area of 18,000 m2 in technical rooms, staircases and elevator halls, on several levels. The Warsaw HUB complex is BREEAM certified at the Excellent level.
Warsaw Unit (designed by the Polish-Belgian Architecture Studio PROJEKT, developer Ghelamco) is distinguished by its characteristic elevation, into which a dynamic artistic installation, the so-called Dragon Skin, has been incorporated. The car park in this building, located on 8 above-ground and 3 underground floors, offers modern infrastructure, including nearly 400 parking spaces, 13 charging stations for electric vehicles and numerous facilities for cyclists. Deckshield floors were made on the surfaces of 17,000 m2 in garages and 10,600 m2 in technical rooms and stairwells. The Warsaw Unit office building received a BREEAM environmental certificate at the Outstanding level, the highest possible.
Vibe (designed by PIG Architekci, developer Ghelamco) was put into use in the summer of 2024. The name of the project refers to the energetic, metropolitan climate of the place. It is the first office building in Poland that has its own, specially created audio sphere, which adjusts to the rhythm of life in the building. The office building’s parking lot offers 110 parking spaces, on an area of approximately 5,000 m2, and uses the Deckshield parking floor system. The Vibe building, like the Warsaw Unit, received a BREEAM environmental certificate at the highest level, Outstanding.
Deckshield resin floors in the above-mentioned buildings were installed by Chemobud, based in Puławy, a Flowcrete Authorised Contractor.
The new business district of the capital is constantly developing, and the investments implemented in this part of Warsaw set directions in the scope of, among others, innovative materials and construction technologies. High-quality resin coatings are used in the buildings that make them up, primarily in parking lots, as well as in server rooms, technical corridors and staircases, but also in auxiliary rooms, and even in representative and office spaces.
