The world’s leading general counsel and purchasers of legal services have rated Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, among the top 10 most favored firms for work, according to the 2016 Acritas Global Elite Brand Survey.
The survey is based on the responses of 1,100 purchasers of legal services from multinational organizations with more than US$1 billion in revenue. Respondents are asked to rank law firms on awareness, favorability, consideration for multijurisdictional deals and consideration for use in multijurisdictional litigation. Dentons improved its rankings in all four categories in 2016, including rising to 10th in the favorability category.
“Dentons’ position as the only truly polycentric global law firm continues to resonate with clients, especially as we enter new markets and attract new talent from around the globe,” says Global Chairman Joe Andrew. “The fact that more and more of the world’s leading organizations favor Dentons for representation as we grow demonstrates that our increased depth, breadth and reach make a qualitative difference to our clients.”
In the overall survey ranking, Dentons climbed three spots to 11th place, up from 14th in 2015 and 17th in 2014. Dentons is one of only six firms in the Acritas Global Elite top 20 to have improved its rankings in 2016.
“In 2013, Salans, Fraser Milner Casgrain and SNR Denton combined to form Dentons in in response to client demands for a law firm that could provide local insight on a global scale,” says Global CEO Elliott Portnoy. “Prior to the combination, none of our legacy firms was even in the top 100 of the Acritas Index. In the past three years we have risen rapidly to 11th, demonstrating that clients feel the benefits of our strategy in a very meaningful way. And we’re just getting started.”
Dentons remains the youngest brand in the Acritas Global Elite top 20 as it continues to surpass competitors that have been in the legal marketplace for decades.
