Real Estate transaction risks. Explosions, title litigation and insolvencies

This meeting will intended for Real Estate practitioners - investors, developers, agents, lawyers and other particpants of the real estate investment process - is focused around the key risks related to real estate investments in Poland and the CEE region. These include title issues, problems of inadequate warranties, indemnities, restitution claims, tax issues, litigation problems of insolvent sellers, as well as political instability risks. The event will explain how real estate market players can undertake their transactions more securely, efficiently and cost-effectively.

Andrew Hillier
Andrew is a chartered surveyor with over 25 years’ experience in the property industry who has applied his property and business experience to a several entrepreneurial companies. He has consulted in property development, renewable energy, IT - and in the golf course market. His current company, Ice Energy Technologies (renewable energy), has gone from start-up to £14m turnover in six years and is a former Times Top 100 Growing Companies winner.

Phillip Oldcorn
Phillip is a solicitor and former chief underwriting officer and CEO of First Title Insurance plc and a senior vice president of the First American Corporation. Phillip established First Title Insurance plc from a start-up in 1995. He has created successful legal indemnities businesses in the UK and Ireland, in CEE and Western Europe. He moved to Sydney to manage First American’s Australia/New Zealand operations in 2003. Mr Oldcorn led First Title’s project to become a professional indemnity insurer of solicitors in England and Wales in 2011. He is a leading market figure who commands a following among the best underwriters and business developers.

The meeting will be held in English.

At a joint meeting of the BPCC's Real Estate & Construction and TMT policy groups at Teatr Scena Prezentacje on 28 October 2015, BPCC members had a chance to look into the future of  Warsaw.
