Personalised medicine and molecular diagnostics: cornerstones of modern oncology

Personalised medicine is based on examination of subtle differences between patients suffering from the same disease.

Personalised medicine addresses lets doctors treat the right patient with the right medicine in the right dosage and at the right time. This concept is based on advanced diagnostic methods, which can identify the characteristics of the tumour at the molecular level. This information can then be used to subject the patient to a treatment that is precisely tailored to their need.

The aim of this half-day event at the British Embassy is to present UK best practice in the area of personalised medicine, and to discuss how to implement such solutions into Polish oncology.

The conference will show how the perception of oncological therapy is changing, and will identify the key challenges that healthcare faces due to the change. Effective introduction of molecular diagnostics and goal-oriented therapy do not only mean modern technology transfer, but above all, they require systemic solutions to integrated approach toward patient and therapeutic decisions.

Guests of honour during the conference will be Prof Rory Shaw, medical director at Healthcare UK and Dr Wojciech Niedźwiedź from Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford University, who will share the UK’s experience in the field of personalised medicine.

The event will be of particular interest to representatives of the public sector, institutions responsible for ensuring safe therapy, healthcare providers, patients' organisations, representatives of pharmaceutical and health technology companies.

Full simultaneous translation will be provided. Particpation is free to registered delegates.
