New technologies in healthcare
The healthcare sector is on the verge of a revolution led by information technology. The ability to gather and process patient data on an unprecedented scale, using wearable technology to monitor biological parameters and cloud computing to process the data, has the potential to greatly enhance doctors' access to real-time information.
However, the speed with which the healthcare sector adopts the latest technologies is determined to a great degree by legislation - as well as the ingrained resistance of many healthcare professionals to IT-driven change.
This event aims to explore the institutional difficulties surrounding the implementation of new technologies into Poland's healthcare sector, as well as showing the potential benefits of the new technologies. Polish IT firm Atende will present some current solutions being introduced to Polish hospitals and surgeries. Private healthcare provider Luxmed, part of Britain's Bupa Group, will showcase best practice in rolling out the latest technologies across the organisation. The legal environment as it affects the implementation of new IT solutions into the healthcare system will be discussed by Dr Ewa Butkiewicz and Sylwia Paszek from law firm Wardyński & Partners. In particular, data protection issues as they affect heathcare will be discussed.
Aimed at BPCC members, representatives of Poland's health ministry, national health fund and regional hospital directors, the half-day conference is intended to show how technology could improve the effectiveness of healthcare in Poland, and the regulatory barriers that have the potential to block the new developments.
