EUROBIOTECH international fair and life sciences forum

On behalf of the organising committee, we would like to invite you to join the
CENTRAL EUROPEAN CONGRESS OF LIFE SCIENCES “EUROBIOTECH 2008”,
in Krakow, Poland on 17-19 October 2008.

The First International Conference: Biotechnology in Agriculture EUROBIOTECH 2007, which took place last April, organised in cooperation with the Jagiellonian University and the Agricultural Academy, proved to be a great success. More than 400 people and 30 biotechnological companies, from Poland and abroad, attended the conference.

Increasing interest in biotechnology has prompted us to follow up the success of  last year’s conference;  this year’s event, Central European Congress of Life Sciences EUROBIOTECH 2008, will focus on agriculture and a wider spectrum of topics relating to Life Sciences. We will be co-organising this scientific and business meeting with the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, the Agricultural University in Krakow, the University of Science and Technology in Krakow (AGH), the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Polish Federation of Biotechnology and the Jagiellonian Centre of Innovation and Cluster Life Sciences Krakow. We would also like to join ranks with the other main biotechnological centres in Central Europe.

We hope that the Congress will present an opportunity for high-quality academic lectures and presentations, and also for  international business exchange. The accompanying exhibition will bring together companies from different sectors: biotech, pharmaceutical and medical, patent firms, consulting, venture and investment fund companies. We have chosen “red biotechnology” (biotech applied to medical processes) to be the leading area for this year’s congress, we will focus on biopharmacology, biosimilars, nutrigenomics, bio-products, biomaterials and “green medicine”.

Main Topics of the Congress:

  • Medical Biotechnology

  • Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

  • Food for Life - Nutrigenomics

  • Biomaterials

  • Animal Biotechnology

  • Intellectual Property Rights in red biotechnology

  • Searching for private capital for life sciences projects

These are the early steps in the creation of a large and internationally significant biotechnology congress in Krakow. Encouraged by last year’s media coverage, we are confident that it will soon become one of the most celebrated biotechnology sector events in Central Europe
