Improve Your Written English

BPCC Academy: Improve Your Written English

Wednesday 26th August, 08:30 - 13:00, BPCC Boardroom, ul. Fabryczna 16-22, Warsaw

The quality of your company's written communications is a competitiveness issue.

Is your company's written communication with international clients as clear as it should be? Do members of your team who use English on a daily basis have a sufficient command of the principles of composition and style?

If you feel that your company's English language skills need a summertime brush-up, this half-day BPCC Academy course held in association with experts from Lacrosse Legal & Financial Translations is just the ticket. It focuses on getting across the key principles of clear written English.

Aimed at people for whom English is not their first language, the course sets out to explain the cultural differences that often lie at the heart of miscommunication, offering practical guidelines and do's and don'ts.

Taught by two experienced practitioners who are well-versed in using English within the Polish corporate setting, the course will give an overview of the essentials of clear written English. At the heart of the course will be a presentation of Lacrosse’s innovative Living Words concept for learning to communicate in English.

In business life we rely largely on a core of words we learnt long before starting work. But when working in English, it’s translating these high-frequency words that causes Poles most trouble.

Living Words starts from the presumption that non-native speakers do translate from their mother tongue, even if they are not aware of the fact (English courses tend to ignore this basic truth). The course takes a core of these everyday problem words (brakować, uzgodnić, wychodzić or zgadzać się, for instance) and shows how to express the ideas behind them in good English.

This course is a must for any Pole, regardless of profession, who works regularly in English and would like to master this core of everyday language.

Due to unprecedented demand for this popular course, the BPCC has had to repeat it a month later, with companies who sent people on the first edition hurrying to place staff on the second one - so please book promptly to avoid disappointment.
