Just as the global economy went pear-shaped, Poland starts receiving EU structural and cohesion funds in bountiful quantities. National and regional operational programmes for infrastructure, environmental protection, human capital, innovative economy and enterprise support total over €67 billion.Over the past 18 months or so, our members have detected the huge business opportunities offered by EU funded work. Much of this is related to the construction of new roads, water treatment plants, public buildings, bridges or airports. Getting public sector contracts at a time when the residential and retail property sectors are stagnant is a good way of tiding over your business until the economy turns up.
