Lech Walesa a former President of the Republic of Poland and Nobel Peace Prize laureate visited the Radisson SAS Centrum hotel in Warsaw
29th of September 2008 The President arrived in Warsaw in connection with the 25th anniversary of awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize. Numerous important ministers, politicians, representatives of culture and business arrived at the event, which began at noon at the Royal Castle. They jointly sang traditional "Happy Birthday" for the laureate, who also celebrated his 65th birthday on that day.
The gala event continued at the Warsaw’s Grand Theatre, where in the evening Nobel'83 concert took place, during which the biggest stars of Polish pop/rock music performed.
President Walesa also found time to visit the Latino Brasserie@ferdy’s restaurant at the Radisson SAS Centrum hotel. There, he consumed an exquisite dinner and the hotel's staff had an opportunity to wish the honourable guest all the best.
Wrocław and Kraków donate blood
Charity blood donation sessions for hospitals are one of the most frequent and most important projects undertaken during the Month of Responsible Business, which is organised in line with the original principle of Responsible Business by the Radisson SAS hotels all over the world. This year, on September 15th, a specialist ambulances for blood donors visited also the Radisson SAS hotels in Kraków and Wrocław, where, throughout the day, hotel’s staff and guests could donate blood.
In Wrocław, under the motto “Give a part of yourself to others”, an ambulance from the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Transfusion Medicine was available in the hotel’s courtyard, where blood was donated both by representatives of the Radisson, and the invited guests from other Wrocław’s hotels. Each donor received delicious snacks and sweets prepared by the chef of the Acquarelle restaurant.
Bronze medal at the Culinary Olympics
The team of Polish cooks trained by the chef of the Radisson SAS Centrum hotel’s restaurant in Warsaw won a bronze medal at the IKA 2008 Culinary Olympics in Erfurt. Dariusz Zahorański helped his apprentices climb the podium in the category of Regional Cuisine Dishes.
Pomerania Culinary Team was prepared by Dariusz Zahorański since as early as May. Over sixty teams from all over the world participated in the category Regional Cuisine Dishes, and the successful Poles proved that in culinary matters they belong to the very best cooks. Under the watchful eye of their coach, they prepared such regional delicacies as sturgeon stewed with sauerkraut and goose meat with pistachio nuts, and for dessert a 60-centimetre tall confectionery figurine made of caramel.
It was the 23rd International Culinary Olympics in which young Polish cooks have participated. Thanks to the involvement and exceptional talent of the chef of Warsaw Radisson's restaurant, the Poles brought home the bronze medal.

Pre-schooler’s day
The Radisson SAS Wrocław had the pleasure of hosting children from "eNTe" language kindergarten in Wrocław.
The group of 10 pre-schoolers together with their teachers participated in a tour of our hotel – they started in hotel rooms, then visited the fitness club, kitchen and finished in the Acquarelle restaurant.
Our youngest and nicest guests were very curious and asked the hotel employees who showed them round plenty of questions. According to the kindergarten's intention, the aim of the visit was to show the children the hotel from inside, work at such a facility and the number of people involved to make the guest’s stay comfortable and pleasant.
At the end of the visit, the children were offered some snacks at our restaurant and received small gifts which will remind them in the future of the event all of us enjoyed so much.
In the end, despite unfavourable weather conditions, the children posed for commemorative photos which will hang on the special board in their kindergarten and our hotel.
