This originated the world’s largest beer festival which till today is held in Munich in the place named ,,Theressa’s Meadow’’ (Theresienwiese) after the Princess.

Held for two weeks at the break of September and October it attracts some 6 million visitors from all around the world. They drink 60 thousand hectoliters of beer in large traditional glasses called „Mass”. Only six largest Munich breweries - Paulaner, Hacker-Pschorr, Spaten, Löwenbräu, Augustiner, and Hofbräu – are permitted to sell during the event.
The fame of Oktoberfest long ago crossed the borders and 3 years ago the tradition of International Oktoberfest was started in Wrocław, Lower Silesia, by six international chambers of commerce: American Chamber of Commerce in Poland, the British Polish Chamber of Commerce, Europa Forum, Polish-German Chamber of Commerce, Scandinavian-Polish Chamber of Commerce, and Irish Polish Chamber of Commerce.

This year’s edition took place on September 20th in spectacular courtyard of old Armoury and gathered over 800 guests, mainly senior managers of the chambers’ member companies, who drank over 1500 litres of traditional Oktoberfest beer Paulaner, a variety of beers provided by local Browar Namysłów and renown Browar Belgia from Kielce, as well as unique ecologic beer Lammsbrau from Bavaria.

Concert of Police orchestra, shows of medieval dances and knight sword fights, performance of original Kapella from Bavaria alternated with lively bagpipe music from Scotland entertained guests late into the night emphasising the international atmosphere of such a unique place as the city of Wrocław.
