Forbes retains Cushman & Wakefield to pursue sale of 60 Fifth Avenue Headquarters Building |
Forbes announced that the company has retained Cushman & Wakefield
to pursue the sale of its headquarters building at 60 Fifth Ave. at
12th Street.
In making the announcement Steve Forbes, president and CEO of Forbes,
said: "As with many other media companies, such as Conde Nast and The
New York Times, the business has simply outgrown the building. We will
be working with a developer to create a new headquarters in New York
City."
The Forbes building is eight stories high and was constructed in 1924,
in the largely residential area of Greenwich Village, for book
publisher Macmillan & Company. In 1925 it won a silver medal from
the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for new buildings completed
that year.
Forbes acquired the building in 1965 when Macmillan & Company moved uptown.
