Five new Principals at Warsaw office of Baker & McKenzie law firm

    Baker & McKenzie appointed the following new Principals: Małgorzara Pietrzak - Paciorek, Sławomir Boruc, Konrad Konarski, Tomasz Krzyżowski and Marek Rosiński. All the new Principals were previously local partners.

PaciorekMałgorzata Pietrzak - Paciorek is an advocate and is responsible for the real estate practice group. She has received numerous recommendations from leading industry publications such as Legal 500, Chambers Global. She has participated in many major investment projects throughout Poland, including some of the largest commercial-office projects in the centre of Warsaw, the Złote Tarasy project and the hi-tech office building located at Rondo ONZ.

BorucSławomir Boruc is a legal advisor and a tax advisor. He specializes in tax problem solving and is in charge of the Baker & McKenzie Tax Advisors Sp. z o.o. which has 15 tax advisors and experts making up the largest tax practice group in any law firm in Poland. He has received numerous recommendations from leading industry publications and tax rankings, e.g. International Tax Review.

 

KonarskiKonrad Konarski is a legal advisor. He specializes in Polish and foreign public offerings and in takeovers of listed companies both in Poland and abroad. He has been named as a capital markets leading lawyer on numerous occasions by prestigious industry publications. He is the author of numerous publications on the subject of company law and securities law. Konrad Konarski is responsible for the work of the securities practice in the Warsaw office.

KrzyżowskiTomasz Krzyżowski is a legal advisor. Named by Legal 500 as a leading lawyer in the fields of mergers and acquisitions and private equity. He has acted as the lead lawyer in a number of business acquisitions and real estate projects. He advises a number of funds operating on the Polish market with respect to private equity transactions.

RosińskiMarek Rosiński is a legal advisor and heads the intellectual property practice group which is made up of thirteen individuals. This practice group specializes in deployment transactions in the IT sector and outsourcing, as well as management of trademark portfolios and enforcement of intellectual property rights. Marek Rosiński is recommended by Legal 500 and other leading industry publications as a leading lawyer in the field of IT/IP.

BarszczAlso in July Mirosław Barszcz rejoined the team of legal advisors at Baker & McKenzie Gruszczyński and Partners Attorneys at Law.

From December 2005 to May 2006 he served as the undersecretary of state at the Finance Ministry. As a well-known and highly regarded tax law expert, he was responsible for preparing reform of the Polish tax system. Prior to being appointed minister, Mirosław advised Baker & McKenzie Gruszczyński and Partners. Before this he led the indirect tax group at one of the Big Four consultancy firms.

    During his career he has advised in some of the largest real estate transactions ever carried out in Central Europe. In addition, he has been advisor to the five largest IT companies in Poland. He supervised and co-ordinated projects carried out by the largest Polish telecommunications, banking, distribution and manufacturing organisations aimed at adapting their tax structures to the changed tax requirements resulting from Poland's EU accession. He is partner and advisor of many business organisations, including the Lewiatan Confederation of Private Employers, the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland and the British Polish Chamber of Commerce.

    Mirosław is the creator and founder of the Internet initiative Rada Podatkowa, a coalition for good tax law.
He is an author of numerous articles published in daily newspapers and specialised magazines, a co-author of tax guide and information booklets, some of which were also published in Great Britain.
