Poland's opportunities showcased at Europe's largest property event
"A series of spectacular developments in and around Warsaw is giving
notice of the Polish capital's importance on the EU stage. Some of
central Europe's largest and most innovative projects are underway in
Poland, providing a catalyst for economic regeneration" reports Cushman
and Wakefield at this year's MIPIM property event in Cannes.
"Poland is among the fastest-developing countries in Europe and is a
reliable and trustworthy partner for international business."
But Poland is not just a one-city economy - Poland's regions have huge
potential. At a packed conference this morning which focused on Poland
in the EU and in the Polish Pavilion at MIPIM there is a sense of
excitement and opportunity.
Sven von der Heyden representing the Von der Heyden Group commented,
'"There are challenges but the perspective is good; there is a
professional legal framework and good access to finance. Wroclaw and
Krakow are developing very well with occupancy vacancy rates of less
than 5%. Poland's regions have a lot to offer. Go and look at the
regional cities - it is a must".
Poland's investment boom has the potential to outpace the growth of
Spain post EU accession. "The country needs to seize the challenge and
promote for growth"- says Martin Oxley, chief executive of the British
Polish Chamber of Commerce. "Poland has the right balance between low
business risk and high business opportunity."

Helmut Fischer from Bank BPH said - "There are many positive aspects to
Poland's EU Accession. The development of a professional financing
environment; EU parameters; investment market development. Poland has
one of the highest return potentials in Europe today".
Poland has a massive potential to grow SMEs and expedite the growth of
its regional economies by exploiting long-term financing instruments.
Loan financing ratios are very low. The development of innovative small
business financing has the potential to significantly reduce Poland's
unemployment.
Dariusz Wasylkowski from law firm Wardynski and Partners said
"International investors no longer need permits, thus lifting a
restriction to investment. The free movement of capital and the
post-Accession legal environment in Poland has opened the market
substantially."
There are currently high levels of interest from American and Spanish
institutional investors for infrastructure and real estate.
Following the enactment of the PPP law Poland's local authorities are
actively seeking partners for a range of infrastructure investments
based on the PPP model.
"All the ingredients are there in Poland; people, investors, funding
and location. The country is at the beginning of its EU growth cycle -
now is absolutely the time to invest in Poland - Poland's time is just
beginning" - says Martin Oxley
Poland has an excellent, professional exhibition stand at MIPIM. There
is an extensive range of investment opportunities not only in Warsaw
but in Poland's regions - Wroclaw, Poznan, Krakow, Katowice and Gdansk.
