| On 24th June the BPCC held its Annual General Meeting and Board elections. BPCC chairman David Thomas opened the meeting with a report of the BPCC’s activities over the previous year: “Following a successful year in 2007, the BPCC's 2008/9 strategy was predominantly to build on existing strengths as well as introducing some new events and services. Financially, the goal was to break even, due to a large amount of capital investment.”
Mr Thomas also personally thanked the British Embassy in Poland for their continued co-operation and support of the Chamber, the BPCC Executive Team, Martin Oxley and Suzy Adcock for their hard work over the previous year and most importantly the BPCC members without whom the Chamber could not exist.
Joe Smoczyński, honorary treasurer then presented the financial statements for the year ended 31st December 2008. Mr Smoczyński reflected that 2008 had been a difficult year for both the Chamber and many of its members and that the “economic downturn was felt by the memberships' response to the services offered and carried out by the BPCC.” To read the full reports from the chairman and honorary treasurer, please click here.
Applicants for a position on the BPCC board then presented their cases which had also been circulated amongst the entire membership prior to the AGM to enable members to place postal votes.
