On 20th April, The British Polish Chamber of Commerce (BPCC) celebrated with the winners of the BPCC Annual Awards 2009 at the Business Mixer sponsored by ING Real Estate. The ceremony took place following the BPCC Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency, Warsaw.
David Thomas, BPCC Chairman presented the seven prizes which were awarded in recognition of BPCC member businesses and projects over the past year. Mirosław Bednarek, President, ING Real Estate greeted the guests and congratulated the winners on their achievements: “The importance of role-model businesses, of sound and well performing companies is growing in the turbulent times we all are facing at the moment.”

BPCC Company of the Year: Cadbury Wedel
The award for BPCC Company of the Year went to Cadbury Wedel for its many achievements on the British-Polish market in the past year including massive investment in Poland, a leading presence on the Polish market, a global manufacturing platform, successful exports to the UK, innovation in finding new ways to market and an excellent CSR programme.
Ruslan Kinebas, Managing Director, Cadbury Wedel commented: “I am particularly excited by this award, because it explicitly recognised the major effort Cadbury has undertaken in Poland through 2008 across all our business priorities. We see it as a sign of respect and recognition from the Polish and British business community for the great progress we made in 2008 in a number of major areas. Best in Corporate Social Responsibility: Mazur Roman – Masterstudio of Business Architecture
The award was given for the Ekspertki.org.pl project created by the company in 2008 to promote entrepreneurship amongst Polish migrant women of over 40 years old. The project not only helps support women but also promotes Poland in the UK and inspires new generations of migrant workers. “It is not every day that a sole trader wins over global brands and I am very grateful to the BPCC for the award,” commented Roman Mazur.
Entrepreneurial Business of the Year: White Eagle
White Eagle, in association with Newcastle Building Society celebrated the win for its Prepaid Maestro® Card programme that offers a complete financial and telecoms package, tailored to migrant workers living and working in the UK. |

British-Polish Exporter of the Year: Herbapol Lublin
Herbapol Lublin has been on the market for nearly 60 years and is a strong brand known by 87% of the Polish population. With international certificates Herbapol Lublin now exports to over 20 countries in the world. In the UK its products are available in a number of Polish and other ethnic shops as well as on the shelves of some of the biggest international retailers.
Best Project using EU Funds: A4e Polska
The winner’s project on Integrational Work Centres for people at risk of social exclusion is being implemented as a part of Operational Programme Human Capital and is financed from the European Social Fund. Last year the company helped 100,000 people get jobs and the project offers a special programme of social and occupational workshops, training and advisory sessions, aimed at helping the clients get back to work.
BPCC Special Award: InterContinental Warszawa
This award was given in recognition of the services and contribution InterContinental Warszawa has made to the BPCC and its members.
“It is very heartening to see such a diverse set of companies winning this year's BPCC Awards. The ceremony brought together companies which owe their success to an intense commitment to innovation, leadership and people.
