Following the success of its Warsaw business mixer on the 3 September, the first ‘live’ event held by the BPCC since lockdown, members from across the south-west of Poland had the chance to participate in a live mixer in a safe, controlled environment.

Rather than the annual International Oktoberfest, which in past years attracted nearly 1,000 participants, this year’s early-autumn mixer, sponsored by Echo Investment and Klöckner Pentaplast and held at The Bridge MGallery Hotel Wrocław, was a far smaller event, limited at 55 guests.

The weather held up well, which meant the mixer took place in the hotel’s gardens and surrounding spaces, so social distancing was maintained (the hotel’s ballroom can accommodate up to 400 participants). As well as exquisitely prepared food based on the Craft* Restaurant culinary-artisanship philosophy, there was an open bar provided (as in Warsaw the previous week) by Pernod Ricard, showcasing some of its great spirits brands.

=Marcin Rutkowski, commercial director central Europe, Food Packaging, from Klöckner Pentaplast and Michalina Lewicka, office leasing manager from Echo Investment, gave a few words of welcome, as did the new general manager of The Bridge MGallery Hotel Wrocław, Stefan Bauer, who had just arrived from Austria nine days earlier to take up the position.

BPCC members were clearly delighted for the chance to network socially for the first time in months, secure in the knowledge that all relevant health-and-safety measures had been taken to ensure that Covid-19 would not threaten the convivial atmosphere.

How has Poland’s real estate sector coped with Covid?

For many years, the BPCC’s Real Estate & Construction events have been a quarterly occurrence, bringing together investors, developers, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects and of course representatives of real estate advisory firms to see how the market is evolving. The pandemic has put much on hold, so after a longer-than-usual pause, the BPCC held its second real-estate event on 16 September 2020, together with Savills and Linklaters, in the form of a webinar.

Late-Summer Business Networking in Warsaw

On the 3 September, the new British ambassador to Warsaw, Anna Clunes OBE, dropped into the British Polish Chamber of Commerce end-of-summer business mixer to greet members.

Poland is Open – webinar, 1 October 2020

The BPCC, together with the Polish Embassy in London, the Polish inward investment and trade agency PAIH and Santander Bank held a webinar aimed at UK firms interesting in doing business in Poland.
