The last week on the Polish FX market was characterized by a stabilization of the zloty, with the EUR/PLN fluctuating in a tight 4,0600 – 4,1000 range. Only on Friday, 29th January, the PLN showed some more volatility and the euro value fell below the lower band of the range, reaching the level of 4,0250.

On the 25th January Jones Lang LaSalle announced key senior management changes in Central & Eastern Europe. Thierry Delvaux, previously Managing Director responsible for Jones Lang LaSalle businesses both in Hungary and Romania, has accepted a new role as a Managing Director of the Jones Lang LaSalle International Business Desk (‘iDesk’), based in Washington DC, USA. Ferenc Furulyas - previously Head of Capital Markets Hungary - is appointed as the new Managing Director in Hungary, whilst Troy Javaher - also heading the Capital Markets team in Romania - is appointed as the new Managing Director in Romania. Both will report to John Duckworth, who leads Jones Lang LaSalle businesses in Central & Eastern Europe.

Investment in EMEA hotels fell by over 50% in 2009 according to new research from Cushman & Wakefield Hospitality. Total investment volumes totalled €3.2 bn in 2009 (against €6.4 bn in 2008) with 50% by value being distressed sales. The 2009 total was an 85% fall on 2007’s record figure of €19.8 bn.
